Benefits of American Express

If you are going to become a regular shopper of international stores you might want to think about getting yourself an American Express credit card. Why, you ask? Well, I'm not promoting that people should go out and get themselves in debt at all, but if you are able to control yourself whether you have one credit card or 5 then here are some good points to having one.

I got myself the basic Amex card which has no annual fee. It has a high interest rate but I pay it off every month without fail. So, it can basically cost you nothing to have it.

Amex gives you one Qantas point for every dollar spent. After your first spend they give you 5,000 bonus points. If you get yourself a more expensive Amex, you get more points per dollar spent. Helps get that free holiday a little easier.

It's hard to spend on this card because there is hardly anyone in Australia who accepts it and if they do, they whack a massive surcharge on for using it. I keep this card for US purchases only - it's accepted everywhere.

Those are the reasons why I got myself one. Some people prefer Paypal as it seems alot safer than using a credit card but for those of you interested - it's a great alternative.
